Dark Hunter
Dollar Bill. US Dollar Bill. 5,10,20,50,100, dollar bills. Man, only If I knew their secret!
Evolution
Here's an excerpt fom Wikipedia: Most banknotes are made of heavy paper, sometimes mixed with linen, cotton, or other textile fibres. Generally, the paper used is different from ordinary paper: it is much more resilient, resists wear and tear, and also does not contain the usual agents that make ordinary paper glow slightly under ultraviolet light The exact composition of bank notes are confidential for obvious reasons. And I doubt you'll find even the basic composition anywhere.
HardSide
its a paper found in middle east only. thats how you know if its illegal money...the united states controls a processing plant that produces the paper, so if you ever wanna make fake money...not possible without this paper. i can really get into it if you want, i wrote a term paper on it, about 102 safety protocols are on a single dollar bill to detect if its a fake or not. mysterious_w
I find the US dollar bills to look extremly esy to forge. They have no watermark as far as I can tell, no holograms, multi-coloured ink patterns, UV reacting thingimi, or cotton strip like the UK notes do. Bubble Wrap
they have all those things now, or are getting them. The 50's and 20's have them, the 5's and 1's have some of them, and the new 100's come out in 2006
Hum
 USA Currency paper is composed of 25% linen and 75% cotton. Red and blue synthetic fibers of various lengths are distributed evenly throughout the paper. http://www.moneymuseum.com/standard_englis...ruck_unten.html

j.nudd
Most new printers won't allow you to print any image that even looks like currency.

no-sweat
has anyone tried printing a dollar on their computer and put it in a vending machine? it won't work.. in the dollar there is a little magnetic line or something.... and if you print it out of a printer it won't be there. thats why counterfeiting only works when you give the money to people i saw an episode about it on the history channel (i think).. very interesting
Zionyx
Hmm... Not sure about hte US ones... In australia, I dont know much except that its made using Polypropelene Plastic, so its pretty much waterproof. The printing is usually pretty complex. I've had a look at some of the euro notes, and they look darn hard to forge.
sui'ke
if you can buy the exact same paper, you can print 200.000 exact copy's in an hour american dollars are actualy easy to copy all you need is a decent press, we about these thins in school... i study printing. here in europe you can't do this because you cant get the exact same paper... ps: i haven't done these things, but its easy if you know how
chopyaedoff
I've had a look at some of the euro notes, and they look darn hard to forge. The Euro notes look very simlar to monopoly money (They even are colour coded with monopoly money) And the UK bank notes are quite good at stopping fraud because they have a dotted strip that when held up to light becomes an unbroken strip and the queens head when held up to the light is translucent (I think)
runningking7
Are you sure that you're not just curious? The composition contains cotton, for sure; you can find out by folding your $10 bill.
