Evolution
Why do people put up posts like these? How a person pronouces it usually has to do with their region and accent...

Julius Caro
Isn't Mario supposed to be italian or something like that? Of course he pronounces his name the Italian way!! xD In Spanish, I'd go for the second choice. But Mario in English is pronounced Merry-oh (or something like that..)... at least it would be pronounced that way, :p

quixotic
Gah, why do people put up such stupid posts? Is it really that important to you? The way Mario pronounces his name in the actual video game and the way individuals pronounce it can be the same or it can be different. It depends on what country/region the person is from and what dialect they use. The a sound can be pronounced quite differently between the crap-load of languages that use it. Using phonetics isn't going to help either because British English or Commonwealth English speakers usually pronounce the a as 'ah' ( further back in the throat ) whereas American English usually uses a harsher a sound that is more grating ( higher up in the throat ). Still, is it that important to you? Ryan --------- "Chelsea! Am I Not Yours?"
