Lucida
There is something called "Proper english, grammer and spelling", if you cant stay along those lines then you may need to consider going into more english classes or maybe read more books and articles. 586827662 Yes, I fully agree. Remember the English Grammar and Spelling and don't let it end... :ninja:
H3lix
Terms such as "lol", "rofl" and "lmao" should deffinitley not be allowed anywhere outside of internet forums/Instant messenger clients. Today's world fosters laziness enough as it is and allowing it in essays would be plain stupid. We have an obesity problem because of the internet and games, we don't need a stupidity problem. B3AN
I seem to say it quite alot in IM conversations, and each time I do it I want to punch myself. I hate it so much, yet I type it because it's the perfect reply when you can't be bothered to write a proper sentance.

User6060
I guess it depends. If your quoting someone and they actually say "lol" then its fine. If your trying to convey a message or doing some sort of expository writing and you include lol your just an idiot.

Eclipse
Most certainly not. There are much more sophisticated ways to express humor than littering an essay with cheesy internet acronyms.
blush
Yes, I believe they should be allowed, so dumb students can fail. 586830227 Haha, that is quite an excellent reason. But seriously, no. It just pains me when my fellow 10th-grade classmates think it's cute to spell "you" as "yuu" on the whiteboard. It'd kill me if "lol" was allowed. Fit4130Rider
Thats just stupid. If it was a quote I would think about changing it. It's just not professional. But LMAO on the other hand....... Kidding, i'm not a big fan of lol and it's variants.
