graphics card problems.. please help!!! Dual Monitor

Recommended Posts

i have a geforce2 mx400(agp) and an ati all-n-wonder (pci) when i have them both installed, the computer boots up like normal, the add new hardware things says "found ati rage II" or whatever (that is the chip that drives the card, so...so far so good) under device manager, the ati card says "device could not start (code 10") if i uninstall the geforce 2, the computer works perfectly off the ati card (after i set pci to promary graphics in bios) and the device manager says the same code 10 error about the geforce2...i cannot get both to work at the same time..

my computer knows there are 2 monitors, cause i can change the resolution in display properties of both mintors... but nothing comes up on the second on, and it says that both monitors are being powered by the gefrce2...

now the real issue is i am about to purchase an ati all-in-wonder radeon 8500DV (for the features, and it is better than the geforce2 anyways) and i want to know if my previous problem just had to do with the 2 brands conflicting or something, and if having 2 ati brand cards would actually fix this problem... either way, i am prolly gonna get the new card, but i want to know if it will fix things, or if there is a way to make it work now(so i don't have to make the purchase before i go to college)

any help would be fantastic (even if it is just telling me what a freaking code 10 error is)

P.S. mods and admins... i realize that i sorta posted this problem before, but i think i did so in the wrong forum, so i wish to post here in hopes that someone who can help will see it.. please do not yell at me :p

your setup should work. mine worked when i use my gf2 gts 32mb with my voodoo 3 2000 pci. check you bios config to see that it boots to your pci card first but then using display properties you should be able to set ur agp to be your primary so do that if that is how you want it. and also check to make sure your drivers are up to date, very important. if this doesnt work then i dont believe it will be solved by purchasing a radeon 8500 lv or whatever. i would just get a vid card that has a dvi out and get a gender changer for it, that is what i am doing as we speak on my gf4 ti4400. hope that helps.

Wait...you're going to have 2 AIWs running? Can I ask why?

the reason i would have 2 aiw's is that the old one's tv tuner and such is not supported by xp (too old) but it cost me like $20 and the cables that came with it are worth way more than that...
