Elliot B.
Current Setup: C: (16 Gb - 5,400 RPM) - Windows' Home D: (40 Gb - 7,200 RPM) E: (Traxdata 8/4/32 CD-R) F: (Creative 52X CD-ROM) - Never Used Whenever I install a game from a CD drive onto a HDD, it slows the computer down. For example: If I put a game into E: and install it to C:, drive C: becomes really sluggish at opening programs etc. Anyone know why this is? DerkPY
Yes, because it is being used. There is data being installed onto it.
Crash
I would agree... also depending on what O/S you are using, you might check to see if the CD rom drive and harddrive have a large buffer or cache setting. You can try adjusting those. If you are running low on HDD space, you might want to clean it up too.
CustardFD
1) What drive are your temp files stored on? 2) What drive is your pagefile on? I'm asking with fragmentation in mind. Does the same happen if you install them to D:?
chavo
Make sure windows is using DMA mode for the cdrom also. For some reason it like to default to PIO.
