Toxicfume Veteran Posted July 26, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 26, 2002 I'm planning to upgrade my sound, since I'll be getting my new speakers soon to go along with it, and i have finally coned down to these 2 choices, either Creative's Audigy Soundcard, or nForce2's onboard sound. Some of my friends tell me nForce2's onboard sounds simply whacks away Audigy, while the others tell me that's not so. I wanted to know your opininions on this. Shifty
as of now its really hard to say which is better. you have to consider that there havent been any nforce2 mobos that have been actually reviewed. considering that you cant tell if its better or not. on paper, they seem to be equally matched. i think the biggest difference will be the software that it comes with. Creative's Live Ware has a ton of features to impliment all the function of the card. Nvidia has yet to show their software to utilize the card. also to consider is developers adopting nvidias technology. im not too sharp on tech details, but from what i got from nvidia's site, the nforce2 does impliment EAX/2, AC3 and DirectX 8.x sound functions. i think you should wait until the nforce2 is out and tech sites get to put it through its paces to see which is better [edit] Nvidia Nforce2 tech specs (pdf) http://www.nvidia.com/docs/lo/2027/SUPP/AP...Brief_71502.pdf Sound Blaster Audigy tech specs http://www.soundblaster.com/glossary/
