well most of these dont work as i desire them to be...for instance if u go into the CNN.com site and do the poll, when u press submit , a new windowopens up showing the result, but the pop up stoppers stop that as well,

I use Pow!, from Analog X...You have to tell it which pop-ups to close, but I'd rather deal with this than have it close pop-ups on websites that use them legitimately (For uploading and for online banking).

With Peace,

I know everyone who surfs the web daily alot like myself, hates popups, advertisments, etc, and stuff like that. I just want a program that kills popups, and all that,...any suggestions anyone.? Thanks!

I use proxomitron and pop up stopper together. I would also recommend adfree, it blocks banners. The proxomitron works great. This the features for proxomitron.

Stop or limit Pop-up windows

Control MIDI music and other sounds

Freeze animated .GIFs - load only the first frame

Kill most all advertising banners

Stop Web-Branding and other scripts added by web space providers

Stop Pop-up alert/confirm boxes

Remove slow web counters

Stop web pages and ads from "auto-refreshing"

Remove Dynamic HTML

Prevent getting stuck in someone's frames

Remove frames or tables altogether for that matter

Kill or change selected Java scripts and applets

Add your own scripts to pages!

Remove or replace web page and/or table background images

Stop Status bar scrollers

Unhide URLs obscured by status line text

Convert blinking text to bold

Remove Layers and Style sheets

Automatically re-write or redirect URLs

Create lists of sites to block or allow

Create similar lists for just about anything else

And as they say, much, much more

The one and only favorite of mine. Small enough to fit on a diskette, easy enough to use by a 5 year old ;)

"KillAd: a utility to get rid of these unwanted browser popup windows we are all sick of.

Distributed_as_Free[OfAnyKindOfWarranties]Ware."

Download Here: http://wwwwin.wplus.net/pp/fsc/

Note: Irronically, the guys website has popups. tho..with this popup stopper..theynever got through ;)

As a couple people posted earlier panicwares' Pop-Up Stopper is the best i have used, and it has an option where if you want it to not block a pop up, you hold control and click on the link of the pop up and the pop up will.. well pop up. ;)

I've tried all of the mentioned programs and most work well.

But give this a try:

Adshield

http://www.adshield.org/

Adshield is:

-free

-automatically blocks unwanted scripted popups

-lets you surf normally

-allows you to block images with just a right click

-lets you build your own ad block list or download a pre-made list

-gives you full control

Adshield:

-does not run at Windows startup

-does not sit in the system tray

-does not beep or flash when working

-does not run as a proxy

-does not eat up resources for breakfast

If you have ever tried Mozilla and like it's popup and ad filtering, wait till you try this. I tested it at all the main popup test pages with excellent results.
