AGP/PCI Stuff

Recommended Posts

Ok, i have this jackass friend, JK1150, who is supposedly good at hardware, but he doesnt believe that the AGP card is an advanced PCI slot specifically made for graphics, and that there has been some sort of rule for a long time (as long as i can remember) that the video card always goes first, whether pci or agp (thats why the agp slot is right below the processor), so that it does have the quickest access to the processor.

Please, tell him (not over PM tho) if im right, or correct me if im wrong

Umm... mike we were talking about how each PCI slot goes through a bus and then to the CPU, not through each other to the CPU. Tell me, aren't I right on that one? Oh and Mike claims that there is a specific order that you have to put PCI cards or your PCI won't boot or something, he is just trying to argue, excuse him.

Well you are somewhat correct. Your explanation is oversimplified (in regards to AGP)at best but yes, that is the gist of it. As for the ordering of PCI cards, it really should not matter.
