sailgreg
Alot of people have been complaining that there hard drives are breaking after only a year or less, why is this? Are there just a bunch of defective hard drives or are people miss using them? What are the most common reson for then breaking? I have a few drives from 1992, that have never been turned off and they still work fine, are the slower ones more reliable? Thanks :)

Thanks :) hard drives are a luck of the draw, doesn't matter what manufactuere they're from. if you get one that lasts, feel good. because getting one that breaks or fails, sucks major ass. :( common reasons for failure? mishandling - hard drives are very fragile tempature ... Joseph Zollo
Most companies these days are getting better at hard drive failures, i've burned through two IBM Deskstar (AKA Deathstar) hard drives in less than a year, they only took a few months to die on me. Since then, i've upgraded to two Western Digital drives. (120GB and an 80GB) The best hard drive manufacturers IMO are Western Digital and Maxtor, you should definately consider buying one of them.
