kalpesh
Hello, When someone says 12X optical zoom, how to test whether the lens actually offers that ? I mean I have recently bought S2IS and I am not sure whether the zoom is enough ! Is there any physical distance that it has to zoom e.g. if i look into the horizon skyline which are like 1 mile away, how much should it zoom in? I have no idea about that. Also in India its difficult to go to a shop and see the zoom on some other lens. Kalpesh
Dallas
I think 12x zoom should be more then enough for most situations, and if its not I think canon sells an atacment that will double the zoom to 24x.
Pink Floyd Veteran Posted December 7, 2005 Veteran Share Posted December 7, 2005 12x in the Canon S2 is near to a 420mm on a Reflex, which is a lot. You need to be stable to shoot with 12x hehe
Dallas
and with 2x thats over 800mm which is more then enough.
Brandon
most of the times you dont actually need more then a 6-8x zoom, and the higher the zoom the more likly you have to use a tripod or monopod to get sharp images
