Robert Duffy, id Software programmer, updated his ..plan with word that a new Quake III Arena point release is in the works:

Just a quick note on future releases for Quake 3 Arena. We will be releasing a new point release in the relatively near future which includes a handful of fixes and updates and also includes full Punk Buster integration to combat cheating. No firm date on when this will be out but it should not be too far off.

nice job id soft! after all these years they're still supporting Q3A!

i think no other game developers do the same thing as id other than blizzard entertainment....

Just because you're fragbait doesn't mean you've got to talk trash about a game

Sweet, I've been looking for a new Point Release.

Quake 3 will always be one of the king of FPS the engine alone is one of the greatest.. In my opition UT wasn't great it was toooooo slow and the competition on it was sort of lame.. i Q3 Rocket Arena.. and then i play UT.. Boy YAWN Rocket Arena got you senses up like 10 fold..

it's like Neo, i see whats going to happen in UT before some one does it.. heheh but i still play it.. i will not bash UT because well it had it's moments (domination) :) but UT2k3 looks good we will see.

But when puch comes to shove it's ID ALL THE WAY GO DOOM 3

i disagree with ya on that one, i loved both games but q3 ran slow until i fed it 384mb of ram, it ran horrible on 128 and 256 even and i had ut running smoothly the whole time. i love them both, but UT is my fav between the 2.

Something must have been wrong, as when i first purchased Quake3 i had 64MB ram ;) ran good. 128MB ran smooooth and after 128 the more ram i added the less difference i noticed. :) UT always guzzled the RAM, and Direct3D support was an 'after' thought (and it showed). Quake3's engine is still being enhanced and used today (SOFII ;)) so i think Q3A deserves our deepest respect. :D

It is perhaps the most advanced, sophisticated 3d gaming experience of its time. Years later it is still unsurpassed in playabilty. THe game has tremendous play life. Get on line. Grab a few of your mates and frag their sorry asses. Aint nothing sweeter....:ninja:

Quake 3 rules, its pure playability speed and enjoyment.

I like UT as well looking forward to UT3 but I will still play Q3A as well.

When ever I format&reinstall 1st thing I put on is Q3A and all its required point releases. New point release will be added to this.

Don't diss the King of Games.

Quake III sucks compared to UT IMO. Q3:TA and MOHAA are a different story however. They aren't that far from UT at all!

i prefer UT over Q3 as well, but they're both good games in their own way.

i see UT more as "the thinking man's FPS" whereas Q3 is more of a wristkilling twitch game. i'm not dissing Q3, mind, it has its moments as well. i like Q3's DM better than UT's DM for example, but UT CTF has no competition. :)
