Problem with TDK 40/12/48X and Nero

Recommended Posts

Before anyone says it, I contacted Ahead and explained the problem (with the log Nero produced) and they never responded, so this is the next step in solving this problem. I am running XP Pro and while burning discs in Nero, the drive simply locks up and doesn't complete the burn. I am then forced to reset my maching in order to eject the disc. Now usually the disc is useable but it is very irritating that I have to reset the computer to complete the process, as you can imagine. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this with this drive or any other brand and Nero. I have tried ECDC, and DiscJuggler, which work fine but I like Nero and am upset that the drive is not performing with it seeing that it was just bought. The problem is not consistent either, it will happen at times while at others it will burn fine...all in all very confusing and any help would be appreciated.:(

In addition I just found out that the maximum speed visable in any CD burning app for this drive is 32x when it should be 40x. This is really wierd. I found out this happens only if there is no disc in the drive, when there is one the 40x speed is available. Seems trivial but why wouldn't it show all the speeds available from the begining? It is this way across a bunch of burning apps, so I can't believe it is a flaw, it seems to be designed this way....Anyone else experience anything like this?

You missunderstood my question to begin with concerning the speed issue.

I found out this happens only if there is no disc in the drive, when there is one the 40x speed is available.

But at least people are replying...:ermm:
