Best MP3 Player for under 300$

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a good mp3 player, here are the features that are necessary...

- At least 10GB of storage

- Batteries last at least 7 hours

- USB 1.1/2.0 or Firewire Connection

- The Smaller the better

Can anyone recommend one with these specs?

I gotta go with the Apple Ipod for Windows/mac depending on which you want. They're 10 GB is 399 with the 5GB at 299 but the 10 GB comes with the headphones with the remote control on them and the carrying case, both things you'd buy any ways so you only really pay about 30 bucks extra for the extra 5gigs. Also it recharges from the wall or over the firewire cable and has regular firmware updates that add new features, like the equalizer they added. I ordered one but it's a month off for the Windows version.

Edit also it's small and batteries last roughly 10 hours.

Yeah, I have got a Archos Jukebox Recoder 10gb, it is small, about 10 hours battery life :)

It is a good one :)

I very much like the 20GB Archos Jukebox, but it's rather big, no? Do you possibly have a link to an actual size picture? As far as transfer speeds, im not too concerned because I only have to move the bulk of my mp3 collection over once.

mAcOdIn, I did consider the iPod, but i don't have 400$, nor do I want to wait 4-6 weeks for a windows version.

I've heard that some people had trouble creating playlists over 999 songs, is that true? Also, about how much does it weigh?

Well if your in a cash and time crunch might I suggest the Rio Riot for 279. This is a sale price and it's usually about 350 or so, has 20GB, back-light screen, and tons of play-list features. But it is larger than the archos and also uses usb 1.

Check it out man:

There is 3rd party windows support for the Ipod already. I use my Ipod with the program Ephpod on my windows machine.

There's another as well Xplay I believe, I just wanted the official plugin for Media Jukebox, and can wait a month.
