Intermediate. I can build a computer, fix just about anything, and am very comfortable with 2 OS's. That said, I'm a terrible programmer (i can barely write a decent bash script, but I used to know a little C++), I suck at graphics (I can use any program and have it look like I did it with MSpaint), and I still am a linux n00b by many measures. It seems to me that I don't learn something new on the computer until I have a use for it or I need it, and once I do i'm pretty good at it.

a-2=b

a= what you rated yourself.

b= what you REALLY are..

if you rated yourself a guru, take two levels off of that down to intermediate. thats what you really are.

I used to be real good on the software side, but once I switched my major from Comp Sci to Psych (ouch!) my program skills plummeted. And I was an amazing java programmer. Anyways, I still fiddle around with scripts, and things like Foobar when I have the time. As for linux, I finally got comfortable with Ubuntu, until I realized "What the heck is the need for two OSs on one PC?" and ditched Ubuntu because I was sick of dualbooting just to game the games I couldn't get working under Wine.

I am intermediate. If you give me a box of computer parts, I can assemble it and tell you what I would have picked to make it run faster. I play lots of games, so I understand some of the computing skills neccessary to have games working correctly 99% of the time. I have my desktop somewhat customized by using visual styles, not windows blinds mind you. I can read those little binary desk clocks (cuz I spent a half an hour one day trying to figure it out :p ) and I dual boot linux with my second hard drive that I had to create an ext3 partition using qtparted in knoppix. I could even make a webpage in html if it really came down to it. But if you told me to write a program from scratch, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Guru, of course. This must be a trick question since Guru is the #1 rank. "l337 H4xX0r" == script kiddie, weee!

Grimman - I've got something funny that goes along somewhat with your sig.

It's a play-on-words to the Mentat's Saffu Litany:

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion

It is by the brewing of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire speed

The Teeth aquire Stains

The Stains become a warning

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion

:blink: :rofl: :woot: ;)

Mentat Saffu, mm? Never heard of the person. I'm assuming it's in the books though, and I'm on "Heretics of Dune" at the moment. Almost done with the series. ^^

Getting tired of Duncan Idaho though.
