Elliot B.
Problem: CD-RW is creating coasters. Refer to https://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.ph...&threadid=40611 for more details ----- The Error: "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupt, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows" ----- Here's The Situation: * The CD-R disks don't look darker after the burn. Then again, the disks I successfully burned with my previous burner weren't darker either, so I assume it's just the CD-R disks * Medium Information: White Label 700 Mb CD-R Disks (32x compatible) * Files Transfered: All files are DivX, copied @ 32x * Tryed reading burned CD-R disk in both drives, same error (look at Error subheading above) * DMA is enabled for both drives * I don't have any ASPI drivers installed, because I haven't needed them before and will only install if I really need to ----- Things I've Noticed: In 'My Computer' 1) E: is, and always has been, called 'CD Drive.' However, the new drive is called 'CD-RW Drive.' Why has Windows detected this being a CD-RW, and not the other one? In 'Nero' 1) The 'Test (no actual burning),' and 'Test And Burn' options in Nero are greyed out. Only 'Burn' is clickable! Burning 2) Nero appears to burn fine, but obviously doesn't 3) When copying an Audio CD On-The-Fly from my other drive... it worked perfectly! This suggests that perhaps it's just the HDD I can't transfer file from?
Elliot B.
Re-update lol Just tried to burn a Bin/Cue (SVCD), which worked fine in my DVD even though there was an error in FireBurner when burning it. I saved it, and here it is: www.bbelectrical.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/fireburner_log.txt This help anyone sort my problem?

Elliot B.
My dad said when he was fitting it, the wires were plugged in the same way the 52X CD-ROM was. He said that there were two wires he could swap. Does anyone know what he means, and would it affect anything?
drcwf
Things to try: 1)If your overclocking your computer, clock it to normal b/c the cdwriter might not work properly on an overclocked bus. 2)Try burning at a slower speed 3)Try different modes if your writer supports it, ie ... TAO, DAO, DAO/96, etc. 4)Upgrade the firmware if availabe (use at own risk .... dont complain to me if your writer becomes a paperweight instead of burning coasters) 5)Goto to the manufacture website and check under support 6)If all fails return the cdwriter or if its under warantee get it checked/repaired
drcwf
two wires? i can only think of three types of wires/cables .... ide cable, spdif (digital audio) cable, and analogue cable ... the last two shouldnt affect burning ... the first would if its broken
Elliot B.
Just tryed burning @ 16x Windows not reports the CD size as 70.2 Mb, even though I burned a 690 Mb DivX movie. I can double click the drive, but no icons appear (as if there nothing on the CD). Still, this is further than I got a few hours ago :) PS. I haven't o/c'ed anything :)
JK1150
Try 4x just for the hell of it
Elliot B.
I'm not trying 4x. That sorta defeats the whole idea of buying a 32x CD-RW. PS. Dudes, reckon www.121cdr.co.uk would send me another one? They've resend CD-Rs and Carrying Cases before when they were damaged
