I don't think that is a question to be discussed here, as copying DVDs is illegal. I do have a similar question though, I wanted to edit my vacation video, adn put it on a VCD so I could view it on a VCR, wut program would be good for this?

Its not illegal if you already own the DVD and just wanna make a backup copy.

mm...yup...if you own the DVD it is not illegal if you only want to make a backup of it..mmm...I think it needs a hardware in order to put your video into a tape....well not sure about that~

I know isn't software... but I just taken ADS INSTANT DVD, an external usb gadget that permits to capture from ANY video source such VCR, Videocams or DVD with a very good HARDWARE conversion to VideoCD, SuperVideoCD or DVD (mpeg2 up to 5mb/s) in realtime. I have a notebook and I capture without problems up to mpeg2 4mb/s... I think I have a too slow hd.

However I think it's a very good hardware.

For the software choice try www.vcdhelp.com or www.digital-digest.com, usually I use Smartripper to extract the Vob files and Flaskmpeg to convert to VCD.
