So I was thinking the other day that they claim music is basicaly math in an audio form. SO it got me to thinking what if your math skills had an influence on the type of music you listen to.

I can't vote because I like all genres except Rap.

I listen to Rock, Pop, Classical. Oldies, Techno, Country, and a little Metal. My math skills are pretty much Highschool Algebra although I'm real good at geometry if that counts.

Edit: Should mention I do like some rap songs but I don't like rap as a genre.

I've been educated to high school algebra level and everything I've been taught I grasped much quicker than my peers when it comes to math. I listen to a wide variety of genres as well......50's jazz, Death Metal, Prog Rock, Classical, Progressive Hip-Hop, Grindcore, Indie, Ambient, Doom Metal, Hardcore Hip-Hop, New Age, Folk, Reggae, Classic Rock and so on.

all i can say is that if im listening to music and i can do any study wif music unless its metal.....metal is too distracint and u get into it more...other types can hang in the background easily.....

there is definately a maths audio connection but the genre depends on the person i guess

I don't think you can only vote for one, when you try it says:

"The error returned was:

You did not choose a poll choice to vote against. Please go back and ensure you click on one of the radio buttons next to the choice you wish to vote for."

You have to put an answer in all of them for the vote to go through

i like all types but i've been heavy on rap and hiphop for the past like 4 years and it hasn't affected me in any way scholastically... i recieved the honors calc senior award for best honors calc student (in high school) of all the class.. so i dont think music adversely affects my schooling.

Rock and Calculus, but I don't think it lets me vote for only one of the polls. I think you can make something like this work if you put a null option in all polls to vote for if you don't apply to the math level in that poll.

I hope you know that you forgot "hip-hop" as one of the choices. Hip-hop and rap are far different.

ummm... that's not quite what I meant :p

I guess i'll just vote rap since it won't be changing : /

But like most well rounded people, especially since I'm so perfect :whislte:, I listen to most music.

Maybe. There's a stereotype with Classical = math skills++ that I've seen in action (I have a friend that fits that stereotype). However, I don't think there's too much of a connection. I think it has more to do with other factors.
