Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum - How to set the amount of

Question

Hey everyone:

I'm using the SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum with the Compaq drivers under WinXP Pro. Does the newer Creative release drivers/apps contain anything newer than the Compaq ones? Anyways, how do I enable more than 2 speaker support since in Control Panel, I do have it for 5.1 speakers but Creative's SurroundMixer shows 2 Speakers only and it doesn't allow changing to anything else, anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

What version drivers did you guys install? I remember a few weeks ago, Creative released something new. Is there anything that one has new that the Compaq drivers doesn't?

mimeryme,

In Creative Surround Mixer, I am in advanced mode and click on speakers. On the Speakers box, I click on it where it says 2 speakers, there is nothing else listed.

sorry Almighty1, i need to clean my glasses it seems.

i have the original audigy drivers plus the update on the website, but never encountered such a problem as you have. you should probably follow the advice of the others. seems like a bad install of the drivers.

q: why are you using the compaq drivers though?

Because the Compaq drivers are a newer set that what Creative released unless there is a newer version somewhere :) The Compaq drivers are made for the Live/Audigy cards by Creative and just contain the newer stuff since it was over 300 megs.

I'll try what others mentioned and see what happens.

Just a update everyone...

Thanks xWeston, Acid, and mimeryme...

I ran the setup.exe on the Compaq Audigy drivers and did the uninstall, rebooted and ran setup.exe to reinstall and chose 5.1 speakers during the install process and rebooted and now everything is back to normal.... Has anyone here used the newer Creative/SoundBlaster Asia released drivers? Are those newer for drivers or are only the apps newer? Thanks.
