CD Trays, do we still need them?

Why do computer cd drives still use those dam trays, why not have slot loaders as default instead of as an option?

Car cd players all use slot loaders, so why do computers still use outdated tray technology. It costs a more, brakes easier, and is just that much more inconvenient.

cd trays are the best, try to fit a mini cd in a car cd player?? wont work!! try to fit an odd shaped cd...same thing

and cd trays are just plain better

those mini cd's are pretty handy along with my MP3CD player..

i'd NEVER by a slot load drive.. apple even got smart and put the tray back on the new iMacs...

slot drives are confusing to some people too.

i've had to fish 5.25" disks out of them b4 at skewl. and the other way around...

Why does everything always have to be built for the lowest common denominator, if idiots don't know not to do stupid things to their drives why do i have to suffer for it.

BTW, mini cd's fit just fine into slot loaders, atleast the few that i've tried.

I think slot CD-roms are great. I have one in my lian-li. They should make them optional on vendor systems like dell, I bet a lot of people would go for them.

I got an AOPEN 16x slot DVD from newegg for $55 and I LOVE the thing. Here's some beauty shots.

Those stupid business card sized CDs are nothing but advertisements and probably cost more to manufacture than a regular cd-r.

Does anyone even have a 5.25" disk anymore??

Also, when I used to work repairing computers, i got many broken trays from people being stupid, appying too much force to them and snaping them off.
