Do you like storms?

Recommended Posts

Well, there was just a huge storm here. There was a huge flash of lightning, and it was louder than an explosion. It sounded like a bomb.. My lights flickered, I was scared to death..... I thought it was bombs being dropped...

Anyways, do you like storms, and why?

Hmm, mods, my poll didn't work.. Sorry..

Love storms!!!

I was in Guatemala over the summer and spent a bit of time in Kingston on the carribean coast. The most incredible storm i've ever seen in my life. No rain, very little thunder but forks of lightning that were prink and red and lasted for full 2 or 3 seconds, lighted up everything. it was beautiful.

We get quite lots of thunderstorms and rain around Christmas holidays. Infact after every christmas, we get bad storms that trash trees across roads and floodings.

But depite those, I do love rain. And I am too a photographer. I like taking scenic photos. :D

I love storms that aren't too dangerous, but I don't get to see too many :(

The last really good one, me and some fellow students went and stood out in it on top of a hill....really intelligent :pinch: ...but fun :D .

Heh, Walmart got hit by the thunder. They're evacuating walmart now, because the power there is completely out.

I'm not going to say it

Fine then, I'll say it.

Thunder does no damage. It's the lightning that would knock out power. Thunder is just the sound caused by the lightning. When lightning strikes, the air around it becomes superheated and cooler air rushes in to balance the temperature. Because of this rapid air movement, air molecules vibrate very violently and quickly, creating a rumbling sound from the sudden mass movement of air. This rumbling sound is what we know as thunder.
