man4theladys
right now im running a 450mhz p3, and im looking to upgrade to either the celeron or duron, im strapped for cash also. i could just get a 1.2 celeron and not have to upgrade mobo, or a duron and get a new mobo. what should i do? username
get a Duron, those things rivaled the same speed P3s. I built my parents a Duron 800 system a little over a year ago and it runs XP just as fast as my Athlon 1600+ you can get the ECS K7S5A with a Duron 1.2ghz for $116.70 shipped
McKrout
depends on how strapped for cash you are, im biased and say that if you have enough, go for a duron and a new board, but if you dont have enough then the choice should be made to go with the celeron, that way as you said you dont need a new board and it wont take as long to do, thus saving money and down time. good luck with which ever one you choose. TS edit: i agree with username on the speed issue, duron is fast and well worth the money if you can afford to do it.
