Last MNF game on ABC tonight

Recommended Posts

Tonight's MNF is between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. Its the last game that ABC will broadcast. Starting next season, ESPN will broadcast the games. Disney, who owns both ABC and ESPN, decided to let ESPN have the games due to declining numbers over the last few seasons. The contract runs from 2006 until 2011. NBC will broadcast the Sunday Night Football games. They are going to call it Football Night in America.

Quite a coincidence that New York Jets lost this match 31-21, and also lost the 1st game of the ABC era 31-21 in 1970.

Yeah, I saw that on SC this morning. As long as the Jets don't play the ESPN premier, they'll be fine.

It's also a shame that MNF didn't go out on more of a "marquee matchup."

Somehow this doesn't seem logical to me; if ratings are decreasing, why move it to cable? Less people have cable than ABC... Oh well, Disney is infinitely wise...
