Swashbuckler
Hello, I am sure that someone has asked this before and apologise in advance but the search just turns up hundreds of results with any mention of the words you put in and I'm sure you can imagine how many times "progress bar" and "luna" have come up in the Customising XP section. Anyway, onto the problem, I have edited the resources of the luna.msstyles to change the look but I have no idea were to start in relation to changing the "chunksize" on the progress bar. The BMP I created was only 1px wide but XP still displays in chunks of around 12px, but I would like chunks of only 1px. Do I have to edit the shellstyle.dll to change this? I don't know where to start looking. Thankyou!
Evgen
You better download trial of stylebulder and change it from there.
Swashbuckler
Yeah, I've had another go and searching and I think I've found the answer but it requires stylebuilder, it would take ages trying to find the right value in Resource Hacker. thanks. Swashbuckler
Where the hell has the edit button gone? Sorry about a double post, But it would appear the trial lasts for an exciting 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds (looks like TGT soft are nearly as bad as stardock), all I want to do is change one maybe two values. Everyone says customising windows XP is 'so simple' now, maybe if you want to shell out aload of money for frankly poor software, I'm glad I never actaully paid for any of it cause within 2 days Windows Blinds or Style XP was so bad that it was unistalled. Ahh, maybe I'll just have to stick with resource hacker, and mess around with hundreds of values. Does anyone know of a freeware apps that allow editing msstyles? :(
Evgen
The only software i know to easy edit .msstyles is PEexplorer because it shows text as it is(not in hex). But its not free too.
Swashbuckler
Ok, I have stylebuilder now working (thanks ZH.A) and got the progress bar to increase smoothly, however when it reaches the end of the bar it appears to ignore the right margin, (see screeny). Anyone know what setting to change get round this? I'm just fiddling with everything possible at the moment but with no luck. :)
dreamz Veteran Posted December 28, 2005 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2005 Does anyone know of a freeware apps that allow editing msstyles? :( as i said in my thread (https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=339820), there's also resedit. it's better than reshacker for editing the values because you can edit the text files directly (no need to convert to binary as you would with reshacker). The only software i know to easy edit .msstyles is PEexplorer because it shows text as it is(not in hex). But its not free too. reshacker and resedit work, and both are free. Then edit sizing margins so that only visible part will be resized.
