Best Buy Introduces Designer PC

Recommended Posts

Less than a year after Best Buy unveiled its own line of PCs, the vpr Matrix family, it decided to move away from the beige, boxy look and reintroduce the line with a fresh high-tech look and feel. Enter Porsche Design, the very same folks who created the look for the Porsche 911 sports car back in 1963 and have since gone on to design eyewear, luggage, watches, and now, computers. We were expecting a flashy PC with a high-gloss finish, similar to systems offered by Falcon Northwest and Voodoo Computers, which use automobile-quality paint. Instead, we found the somewhat understated vpr Matrix 253R ($1,700 street, monitor not included). The system sports a black-and-silver color scheme, which is nothing new, but its beveled edges give the familiar Porsche-like look.
