dtrinh
Okay - Locksmith doesn't work. TT Nonetheless, I was able to log into my new Windows partition through Recovery console. From there I typed just "fixboot". It said the primary partition was C: (the old messed up partition) - and created a new boot sector - however, when I restarted, same problem. Black window. White cursor. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( Maybe I need to log directly onto the C: partition for it to work? UGh Ugh Ugh.
slice16
yeah, when you first go onto the recovery console, you have to chose the first partion © then try that
dtrinh
Oh - so I can't do "fixboot" from other partitions like "fixboot C:" logged in on the E: partition?
slice16
im not 100% sure on that one... i doubt it, cos it would defeat teh point in having the password protection in place
dtrinh
hmm. very odd. TT - I just can't figure out a way to get that password changed. Locksmith refuses to work - and I tried a command line argument "net user administrator password_here" nothing seems to work.
slice16
it looks like the only other option left now is to format the hdd. if you cant log onto the partition... not lookign too good. try and backup all your data by logging onto another partition, and try copy c:\Documents and Settings\User\my documents\* to your new partition. dtrinh
T_T I'm praying that I'm doing something wrong and that I can fix it. Well, if in three hours I can't get anything fixed - I'll do a backup and a formatt

dtrinh
Okay - major update. Patience does pay off - thanks to loginrecovery.net, I was able to recover my admin password. I logged into the C: Partition. And typed "fixboot" It said the target partition was C:, etc, and I said "Y" and it created a new boot sector. Which brings me into my next problem. Now whenever I startup - it goes into windows then goes to a blue screen where it says "setup is being restard .... " - white text flashes on the screen for a split second and then restarts. When left alone , it repeats this process almost loop like
