crackhbob
I've lost so much respect for so many people through completely ridiculous threads like this one. Yes, let's all call each other names in the hopes of reinforcing our feelings on our OS of choice. These words coming from a 16 year old, I have only two words for all of you... GROW UP. Wickedkitten Veteran Posted August 4, 2002 Veteran Share Posted August 4, 2002 I just feel sorry for the poor schmucks that went and sold their cubes into prostitution because they ran too slow only to find out that sonnet is releasing a dual ghz upgrade for them Oh the irony! That would be like me losing all respect for the guy that delivers the newspaper cos he brought me the Daily Record instead of the Daily Mail. It would probably make more sense as well considering the fact that the paper boy isnt a guy on the internet that doesn't actually affect your personal life in any way shape or form :right:

You took the words right out of my mouth. I am 16 too, and I can see that these people cannot discuss this without insults and namecalling. As a matter of fact it has come to be expected that this was gonna happen.

Well rather than drawing attention to something, which will likely incite more flames, perhaps you would care to make a contribution to the thread? Get things back on topic? If there are problems, staff will handle it. That is what we are here for. If you dislike these threads, do yourself a favor, just as well as everyone else here and do not participate. Chad
I see some people need to actually use a Mac at least once before they knock it. A few points... 1) speed for speed, a Mac will be a x86 anyday. aka a 1 Ghz G4 will outpace a 1 Ghz P3/P4, Athlon. 2) Mac is by far more stable than PCs. Sure, on the occasion, a pc won't crash after a couple days use. But if it isn't restarted, performance will take a huge hit. You can run Mac OSX constantly for a few weeks without seeing any performance hit. 3) PCs do NOT have better video cards than Macs. They use the SAME THING!! What's the best video card for PC? A GeForce4Ti. what's the best one for Mac? OHHH!! Its a GeForce4Ti!!! Whaddayaknow!!! 4) For every app on the pc, you can find one that is at least as good (most of the time better) on the Mac. 5) Virii....nuff said. 6) POWERMACS (not imacs or ibooks) may cost more now. But they will last longer than your pc. PCs last an average of 2 years before they need to be updated to use the newest games/OS/apps. Macs, however, last an average of 4 years before the need to update. So while I can be using the same Mac for the next 4 years, you will have upgraded your pc at least 2 times to keep it running the new version of windows 7) The time spent to upkeep a Mac is far lower than upkeep on the pc. That turns into more time/money spent. Fact is I was a longtime pc user. I used to hate Macs with a passion. I used to think they were slow. They had no software, etc. Then I got a clue... The points I stated above are things I discovered after I did some studying up on the Mac and after using them. They aren't fabrications or figments of my imagination, they are outright facts. If ya can't live with them, well sucks to be you. I would say that if every single PC user did some reading up on the misconceptions they have heard on the Mac platform, you'd be seeing a few million people switch over to Mac. He wants to be one of the gang and he figures the fastest way to do this is to slag off the minority (mac users) and put the people he seeks approval from (pc users) in a superiour position where in term they will pat him on the back and say well done. He'd be better off going on Oprah if you ask me.

usr.bin
Originally posted by Tesseract He made his contribution by voicing his opinion of how pathetic this thread is. This issue has been beaten to death, why bring it up yet again? I've never understood something that a lot of Neowinians do. I've tried to figure it out, but I can't. If you see a thread that you don't like, or you feel shouldn't even be taking place, or you can only think of something negative to post in the thread that most likely has nothing to do with the topic being discussed, why even make a post at all? Do you feel that because you opened the window up you must make some kind of reply before hitting the 'Close' button? I'll never understand it. There used to be threads going around about the interface of WinXP and people were trying to create themes and convert icons so Windows could look like a Mac. And every so often someone had to come in and post "if you want a Mac, use a Mac and not Windows". And that was the most pointless thing you could post in a thread where they were trying to emulate the interface. They weren't trying to get OSX on thier PC, they were trying to make the interface look like that of OS X. --dave
Steven
i think macs are fast. they are in fact designed different than x86 procs. RISC Vs. CISC. P.S.
