DMA Mode Problems...

Recommended Posts

everything i read tells me to enable DMA mode by going to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers>Primary IDE Channel (same for Secondary)>Properties>Advanced Settings>DMA if Available

yet i dont even have this Advanced tab

my hard drive should have this feature, its not that old.. Nov.2000

it's from Dell

does anyone know what i can do? or does my drive just suck?

It could be because of your motherboard, mines Intel and it doesn't display those tabs. If yours is the same run the Intel App Accelerator and it should tell you what DMA mode you are running. Or you might not have the right drivers installed for your hardware. You can also find out what mode you are running in when you boot up your PC by look at the configuration screen after the POST.

Hope this helped.
