Elliot B.
What about people that don't watch TV? Should give us an option. :) That isn't the purpose of my thread though.

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 3, 2006 Subscriber² Share Posted January 3, 2006 I say no. I still don't see much "violence for the sake of violence" on TV - this is what I think is the dangerous violence to show. As long as it's justified I agree with showing violence, swearing, bad language etc TO THE CORRECT AUDIENCE! Let me say that again - AUDIENCE - this is the most important factor in my mind. Don't show children films such as Kill Bill, as they are more likely to reinact this (just as they are more likely to reinact Thomas The Tank Engine). Fred Derf Veteran Posted January 3, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2006 I'd be willing to trade in some violence for more nudity...

Cvrt7.62Ghst
Do you believe there is too much violence on TV? Define violence... because realy, that term is subjective.
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted January 3, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2006 Absolutely. Too much violence, sexual content, and occult references. It is really hard in modern times to find suitable TV programs for children. The FCC needs to step up and draft some NEW decency regulations, not this softball stuff they have now. I'd like to hear some of your occult references.
Gabureiru
No, I don't think there's to much violence, and even if there was, is not bad to see violence on tv. On the other hand there is to much sexual explicit content on public TV....
ahhell
Personally, I think sexual content on tv is hell of alot less damaging to a developing mind than violence is. Also what do you consider "sexual explicit"? On Tv here in Canada there is NO explicit sex on public TV (no wangs, intercourse, etc.). Oh noes!!!!11!! They showed a boobie!!11!!11! Ahhhhh!! Big deal. Look at Europe...they got some crazy **** on TV and they are NO were near as screwed up as the general US public. Boobies good.....violence bad. revvo
Too much nonsense? Yes Too much violence? Nope. I think it sucks when they show a movie on T.V. and that they have the edit out the violent parts like in Terminator 2 when the T1000 impales the dude while drinking milk or in Braveheart when the execution of William Wallace The Great is censored. It's part of a movie, of the director's creation. They (media) naturally know people that shouldn't be watching something do watch that very something like kids watching nudity. What is it with people just TRYING to start Canadian/US FLAME WARS ???? the "general US public" ??? so becuase in canada, they won't show violence automatically means that the "general US Public" is "screwed up". please.... go troll somewhere else. brand
monkey torture I routinely shut off the news when it comes on because it makes me feel terrible. I can careless about fantasy violence provided by anything else on TV; but because the news is so horrible, it qualifies as TV. Ban your kids from watching the news!
