devnulllore
Hi, Anyone know where I can get a P2 - 333 slot 1 processor? I cannot find one anywhere, even online. I am also wondering if Intel ever made a P3-1ghz in the slot one form that supported the 133 fsb? Reason I ask is my MB has a P3-800EB and the manufaturer says it will take up to a 1ghz but I do not want to downgrade to a chip that only supports the 100mhz fsb. Thanks,

devnulllore
I want the 333mhz chip. It's an upgrade for my dad, since the 333 is the fastest his older MB will take. Also I found that Intel did make a P3 - SECC2 in 1g, 1.13g and 1.20g that run at the 133mhz fsb speeds. I just cannot find them online anywhere. Any suggestions? userguy
Try searching on Google for a Slocket. Slockets are converters that allow a socket 370 processor to be used on a slot 1 system. Even though your father's motherboard may say it only supports up to a 333, it will likely support up to a 1 GHz Celeron socket 370 processor (though it would be underclocked, as all Celerons from 900 and above use a 100 MHz FSB), due to the lower voltage requirements from these processors. Pentium IIs and early Pentium IIIs required higher voltages the faster they went, but as they've gone from .25 microns to .18 and .13, the voltage requirements have decreased. There's almost absolutely no reason why his motherboard wouldn't support a faster socket 370 processor with a $20 slocket.
username
if its a dell, hp, geteway ect... those motherboard don't support upgrading CPUs well at all. Some HP and Dells even have the BIOSs locked at on CPU speed. I would say your BIOS limits you to 333mhz, sure if it had an updated BIOS that supported newer CPUs, but thats not in the cards. devnulllore
Thanks for the info. We uograded him to 256M ram and a 7200 / ATA100 hd on a ATA100 controler card. It runs pretty fast now. As for the CPU I am looking for myself (P3-1G / PC-133) I still cannot find one anywhere, at least not in the SECC2.
