+Xinok Subscriber² Posted January 6, 2006 Subscriber² Share Posted January 6, 2006 I'm just curious what everyone thinks about Microsoft's response to the WMF vulnerability? Personally, I think Microsoft did OK, but definitely not great. I don't think Microsoft was the first to announce it, but they did announce how to unregister the DLLs. They also provided protection via their antispyware software. I've heard that unregistering the DLLs wasn't sufficient though. And no antivirus or antispyware was able to pick up new variants of the exploit for a little while.
amrinders87
Is 5 Excellent or 1? But I think they did a great job. The patched it fairly quickly, the patch works (it did not break anything, for me), and we did not see any numbers of how many computers got infected by this exploit.
