LatinneoUS
Hello, I've started a online advertising website and want to know what do you guys think about it. Ok, the idea is to have a list of advertisements. The list will be dynamic, I mean, it will change over time altough all ads will be present at any given moment. We'll keep the list dynamically ordered by price, so the advertisers that payed the most will be at the top. Think this is like a game, visitors are interested in seeing who is paying the most to be at the top of the list, and advertisers keep buying the top positions to receive more clicks. So... what do you think about the idea?
lawtai
Unless you're already getting a million hits a day, or have a very good domain name, I doubt this idea will work. Could be wrong, but it's hard to bring in advertisement just like that.
Raum
Any opinion I could give will be incredibly biased because I highly despise advertising.

jimbo12141
hits don't mean visits! Hits are a collection of various things that add up. I looked at your stats on your page and it says 157 Unique Visits. Its nothing!
LatinneoUS
hits don't mean visits! Hits are a collection of various things that add up. what is the domain name, show us the charts for your hits! I'm getting between 104-234 visits daily, not counting bots. and about the domain name I think disclosing it will be cataloged spam.
lawtai
heh yea, i should've said visits instead of hits. just checking your own website probably adds up to a couple hundred hits a day. ~2-300 visits a day isn't really worth anything to an advertiser. You really do need thousands a day, and not just from your friends visiting.

That's not possible with statcounter, It placed a cookie on my PC to prevent counting myself.
jimbo12141
I got your website from your profile: http://www.shoot4firstplace.com/ Yes but cookies will expire and get deleted from time to time! Still companies will not be interested in investing money for advertising unless you are recieving something like 15 - 20,000 UNIQUE visits aday! at the bare minimum. This is because they will want the most amount of traffic possible as this could mean increased sales

Look at statcounter and you will discover you can put your IP addresses too. I don't want to crank my counter up man! Besides, you say I need at least 1000's of visitors so I can't keep visiting the website all day long, I work full-time too eh! :) Anyways, anyone can tell me if ~150 visitors the first 4 days is good or not???? I know I need a lot more, I only need to know if it's ok to have 150 the first few days. Think about it, you invest $1.01 and then you forget about it, then suppose my web turns to be very famous, a lot of traffic, hey man, where in the world you'll get that traffic for $1???? in the other hand if I fail your loss is only $1!! I think is a win-win situation.
jimbo12141
well 150 visiters for 4 days which is roughly an average of 37.5 visiters aday, so its not really that great... and how much does it costs you to host your website each month? Domain name costs?

jimbo12141
ok perhaps you should read some things about webhosting, and domain names, domain names including .coms can be picked up for around $7.85 on www.godaddy.com And hosting can be found for as low as 3 - 4 $ for a good service. I use www.websitesource.net and have 1.6 GB space and 30 GB bandwidth for around $8 per month so atm you need to cover your cost of 35 dollars and therefore sell 35 $1 adds that you propose and then a a further 16 adds a month to break even! jimbo12141
so you would rather pay $35 for a domain registration and this continual fee each year, and $16 a month and not a 6$ service that is just as good or better? plus http://www.crystaltech.com/ your hoster doesnt seem to provide Linux/unix, this seems to be the best option for webhosting. + i wouldnt have listed all your telephone + contact details in your domain registration info, anyone could get the address and telephone numbers etc. yes but free hostings is rubbish.
