Shadrack
ok..so the order of the genera matters for those with multiple generas, as in: what is listed first is the primary category, and so forth. I didn't list every possible combination, so just say it and vote other. This is to settle a really stupid dispute at the moment. Thank you for your time! -shadrack

curme
It's "genre". It's a french word, that's why it's not spelled phonetically.
Raven
Yes, a spelling check would have pinpointed that error. The best genre would be lousy music but most put it under Rock.
RudyJ
Yes, a spelling check would have pinpointed that error. The best genre would be lousy music but most put it under Rock. This band changed the face of pop music more than any other band, its influence is still felt today, whether you like em or not, so calling it lousy music says more about your (lack of) knowledge than anything else. I would put it under British Invasion or Pop Rock Edited January 14, 2006 by RudyJ
Shadrack
It's "genre". TheCaver
Lighten up Francis, he was just pointing out the misspelling and giving some background, not being malicious. I would argue that to intelligently discuss a topic, it *is* helpful to be able to spell said topic..... JC
Shadrack
Genera basically means the same as genre. Except genera is used in biology while genre is for music. Holy crap! Do you guys go around criticizing everyone who makes grammatical and spelling errors in their topic? I would argue that to intelligently discuss a topic, it *is* helpful to be able to spell said topic..... Yes, i agree. And actually discussing the topic instead of driving it off topic with stupid trolling is also very helpful. Lets see if it does help: [troll] Thanks for your 3rd post on Neowin in over a year of membership. You've contributed a lot to this community. [/troll] Nope... doesn't seem to get us anywhere, does it? ---- Anyway, I'm a subgenera freak, so i classify them as Rock British Invasion Pop Oldies

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 15, 2006 Subscriber² Share Posted January 15, 2006 At the beginning, they were very bluesy rock, but as time progressed they became more guitar pop and then possibly "psychadelic" is the best word. Maybe "experimental" fits better, as they encompassed many genres. I find the term "British Invasion" to be 100% pathetic as: 1) It's arrogant, as it assumes the reader is not British. 2) It fails to describe any form of music. Now, as for the original poster getting ****y when his error was pointed out: Grow up. If I missuse a word, I'd rather have someone point it out than go on missusing it. "Genera" is nto used in this context, "genre" is.
R-Flex
It's rock of course. Then again, apparently genres have changed. Someone once corrected me that Britney Spears is no longer 'pop', but 'R&B'. And some here say the Beatles are pop rock (I've never heard of this before), yet they were rock 'n roll.
