I think that virginity is only lost in our minds. Since we can have sex for fun or for love...perhaps both. But let me tell you as a man that I could lose my virginity straight away with any girl but perhaps not the "sacred" virginity which I think handles a more deep meaning.

On the other hand, we'll never know if a woman has lost her virginity while having intercourse or by natural ways. What we can tell is how she expresses herself at the moment and if the point is even discussed.

I usually don't post. I'm an active reader. But I think this one is a good topic. :D

ok you guys must not have looked very hard:

virgin -'n. -

1. A virgin is most commonly seen as a person who has not engaged in sexual intercourse. In a stricter sense it is somebody who has not yet engaged in sexual activities (the wider this term is taken, the stricter the definition of virgin). The status of "virginity" is sometimes something that is respected and valued in societies, especially in regards to religious views of retaining one's virginity before marriage. ...

intercourse -'adj. -

1. communication between individuals

2. sexual intercourse: the act of sexual procreation between a man and a woman; the man's penis is inserted into the woman's vagina and excited until orgasm and ejaculation occur

3. Sexual activity in which the penis is inserted into an orifice such as the vagina or anus; the term is often modified accordingly (eg anal intercourse).

... it varies, as you see. one says vagina, and anus, so it REALLY depends, and is very relative to ones personal/religious/idealological views.

and if thats the case, does oral sex count? because, you ESSENTIALLY could "communicate" with your tongue? not that i know or anything... :shiftyninja:   ;)

When the penis breaks the plane of the vagina. That's it.

Exactly. Thats always been mine understanding and definition as well as everyone else that I know.

Although as a side note, I did know this girl that did not consider it cheating unless intercourse was involved. So basically anything goes, even the back door, and it wasn't cheating.

Does she really? No offence but "LOLZ".

Going by your girlfriends idea, we all lost our virginity as babies when our parents washed us.

If it has to be sexual, then someone masturbating has lost their virginity to themselves! :p

I don't understand why the definition is up for discussion. I have never seen any definition other than the standard "when sexual intercourse occurs".

There is a big difference between genital touching and full intercourse in terms of emotions, intimacy and innocence, whether or not you love the person or see sex as special. Genital touching is the start to losing that innocence or purity, but it is not the same.

I guess there could be a debate as to whether anal intercourse between a male and female counts.

When person A penitrates person B, either by hand or device (as oral not so much....)

seriouslly, under some of you people the idea is that Penis in Vagina = not a virgin....

what about lesbians and us gays? :p, under your definition if none of us had male/female sex, we are still virgins?

When the penis breaks the plane of the vagina. That's it.

actually, that can break while riding a horse... not sexually, but for sport.. once again, not sexually.

it's when the penis penetrates the vagina for the first time.

What a pointless thread. A virgin is obviously someone that has not engaged in sexual intercourse. The only confusion that could arrise is if the penis is inserted into the vagina and no ejaculation occurs, or if you are gay and have only performed anal sex - then, in the strictest possible terms, that does not count as regular sexual intercourse (much like oral sex does not) and you would technically be a virgin. Typically sexual intercourse refers to coitus (genital sex between a man and a woman); typically coitus refers to vaginal sex involving ejaculation - it's really that simple.

Being naked and performing/receiving oral sex or a handjob certainly do not count and I cannot believe that anyone would actually consider losing your viriginity to apply to those terms... losing your innocence, maybe.
