Somebody has a narrow view of the world. Here is a newsflash for those have lived under a shell their whole lives.

EVERYTHING causes cancer. Living is the leading cause of death.

Yes, I'll make sure not to brush my teeth with my cancer giving toothbrush, or walk around on cancer giving pavements. The point about smoking is that the warnings aren't just a safety precaution... it is actually a serious risk to your health. If you honestly don't believe that smoking is a serious risk then you're just kidding yourself.

Advantages to smoking:

Bad breath

Bad teeth

Stained fingers

Lung cancer

Heart disease

Risk of losing feet / limbs

Expensive

Stunts growth

Addictive

Disadvantages:

Death

I really do struggle to see what makes anyone even consider smoking. Still, as long as I don't come in contact with the smoke I couldn't care less.

I love smoking. After i eat and i'm full to my thorat, i smoke and it makes it good.

when i'm having a bad day, just have one. i don't know. i will try to quit.

and my chose of ciggerates

Marlbolo Light Mentols

Ewww. those are really heavy. I like lighter ciggerates.

Marlbolo Light Mentols Baby!!!

Don't confuse "light" cigarettes with them being "less harmful" because that is simply false.

In most cases apparently light cigarettes contain more harmful substances than other types.

Another trap of light cigarettes is that people usually smoke more of them because they mistakenly believe that they are doing themselves less harm, this is also false and they're also doing themselves more harm than if they were smoking full strength ones.

I think there is some campaign to have "Light" cigarettes renamed because people smoke light cigarettes thinking that it does them less harm.

Eating unhealthy foods is a form of suicide that people (for some reason) just seem to overlook.

You can hardly compare eathing unhealthy food to inhaling smoke and carcinogenic chemicals.

WHat do you like about it? Care to explain what's to great about the drug that is the hardest to stop? I doubt ur not addicted

The drug is the nicotine, not the smoking. I would smoke, nicotine or not.

It is hard to put to nonsmokers but i'll give it a shot.

I like how it tastes. I like how the smoke feels going down. Just like people think (American)beer tastes and smells like horse****, others enjoy the taste and feel of it. It's personal preference.

Maybe I am strange, maybe not.

And for the record, I have quit a few times for reasons I don't care to discuss. Lets just say it wasn't for the sake of my health.

Yes they can both shorten your lifespan. The point is that so many things we do shorten our lifespan. You just have to see if it's worth it for you, and even if you make a bad choice doesn't mean that you are an idiot and should die. I'm not a smoker either, but saying that anyone who smokes is trying to kill themselves or might as well die are stupid things to say.

Was this guy an idiot?

Ciggs are one of those things I've never had a desire to do. I smoke marijuana, but even if ciggs had the same effect, I still don't see myself smoking them.

I'm ok with other people doing it, I don't think it's a good decision but it's their decision to make, not mine. I only ask that they do it around me as little as possible, and there's no smoking in my room, my car etc.

All my friends tell me to never try them, and say they wish they could quit. Kinda wonder why they even started. Oh well, like I said, doesn't make them any better or worse of a person in my eyes, it's just something I'd rather not to myself. Something I prefer to be around as little as possible as well.

I do feel a lot of fellow non-smokers need to get off their high-horses and realizes people have different likes, dislikes, preferences and so forth. you see a lot of them give smokers hell, then go drive somewhere. How ****ing hypocritical is that? Don't smoke because it's bad for peoples health, but I'll go freshen up the air with my car exhaust. Just ****ing brilliant.

Many things you choose to do on a daily basis are as well. Take my decision to pursue my passion of skateboarding. I know that if I seriously participate int he sport, I'm at a serious risk for fracturing and breaking multiple bones, and that the chances of me being highly mobile past 40 are slim.

I smoke far too much.. 1 pack a day, if not more. I am planning on quitting too with the assistance of the new lady in my life who detests my breath after I smoke, lol. I have been smoking for 10 years and have wasted away around 30,000$. Talk about stupid.

Stupid in that situation is relative to the value you place on money. To someone like me, it doesn't matter much.

Money does make the world go round so to say. Unless you are a hunter gatherer and living in a jungle or are some indigenous person; you rely on it.

I smoke because of financial stress.. yet I am spending hard earned money that would help pay my bills and get my out of my debt on cigarettes. That is what I was calling stupid.

Well that's why I live the lifestlye I do. I fI go out to eat, I'm at a buffet if I'm spending more than 5$. I never buy my skate shoes at full price, which is normally 65 - 90$ for a good pair. I wait until one of the skateshops or websites I use has a sale with a decent pair listed under 40. I can't remember the last time I spent more than 10$ on a shirt or some pants. I don't go crazy with my car, I just drive when I need to, conserve my gas. I'll walk somewhere or skate there if I can. Food? I grow my own when I can.

Yes, I rely on money, but not as much as most people think they need to.

In your case, smoking isn't solving anything, but if you enjoy it enought hen I guess it's worth it for you. What'd you do to get in debt in the first place?

Hopefully the UK will soon move to a complete ban with the free vote that is coming up... I dislike going out to pubs as I come back stinking of smoke; if it's that bad just smelling my clothes I can't imagine how bad it would actually be to actually smoke them.

Okay, as much as I hate smoking, banning it in pubs is a ridiculous idea. Its almost like saying any kind of meat should be banned from supermarkets - it just wouldn't work.

Smoking is the nastiest thing anyone could possibly do. One thing I dont get is why todays youth ever starts smoking with all of the ads and information about how bad they are why they still start smoking...

I dont think anyone will dispute that smoking isnt bad, but I think chewing tabacco is the nastiest. Its funny that there is such a big push to sue the tabacco companies, but yet all this greasy, high fat, high cholesterol content fast foods get very little public attention. No one says, "oh, thats disgusting that person is eating a greasy cheeseburger". Especially since heart disease is the number one among moratality rates. I do not condone smoking but the negative attention that smokers get is out of proportion versus other health disorders and diseases related to health.
