James Rose
I cant got to hell. Im an athiest and since there is no god, there can be no hell.... well, that is except for the stupid/evil things we do to each other here/now. That can be considered hell. But you guys feel free to believe whatever your heart desires, that poses no issue for me. However, I would LIKE it if everyone tries to be kind and considerate while here on this planet/plane of existance. Best of luck to you all. James Rose
Addendum to my first post: It is worth noting that the Bible actually does not speak of hell as a place of torment, that was brought about by the church very recently. The bible states that hell is a place absent from God. And as an Athiest EVEN I can grasp that IF there was a God, and I *KNEW* it (as opposed to the BELIEF that people feel) then I can see how an absence of such a person, the lack of that love would be, well, "bad" But again, these are JUST my opinions. I hope that I am wrong about God, but this is how *I* feel. For those who do feel/believe it; Fantastic for you. See, that's called compassion and consideration. Just becuase I dont believe that doesnt mean you can't, ahhh freedom of choice, ain't it wonderful. Again, peace to all of you. Have a wonderful weekend. chopyaedoff
When you die you go to a place 6 feet under! But if these places are real - i would prefare to go to hell. He who has commits no evil has no fun.
selphj
Addendum to my first post: It is worth noting that the Bible actually does not speak of hell as a place of torment, that was brought about by the church very recently. The bible states that hell is a place absent from God. Well technically Hades is where you go upon death if you aren't admitted into heaven and yes the concept is a holding place seperated from God. But eventually the Lamb will return (Jesus) and all will be judged. Those falling short will be thrown into the Lake of Fire (Hell) along with Satan for an eternity of suffering and seperation from God. During judgement, either you need to be perfect in the sight of God or Jesus must know you and have taken your sin for you. And if you are human, you aren't perfect. As far as God having killed those in the old testament. It's sad to say that a lot of churches teach God as a friendly inactive old man that wouldn't hurt a fly. That's not biblical though. God put us here to glorify Him. He's the ultimate giver of mercy, but His grace does have limits. Throughout history, but in the old testament in particular, man came to be such a foul taste to Him that God could not stand it. So He destroyed the world and used Noah to rebuild it so that man would hopefully fallow Him better. Other times, He was known to destroy cities that were breeding grounds of sin. We belong to God, and whether you believe it or not, He can and will affect lives on this earth to His own purpose.
John S. Veteran Posted January 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) There should be a third potion.I believe there is a heaven and a hell but I do not believe that I am going to hell so I do not fear it. Finally the redeemed voice of reason within this thread. I am saved in the blood of our LORD and savior Jesus Christ and therefore am not afraid of hell, as my soul has already been redeemed for entry into heaven. All it takes to get into heaven is to accept that Christ died for your sins. I'll see you there  Addendum to my first post: It is worth noting that the Bible actually does not speak of hell as a place of torment, that was brought about by the church very recently. The bible states that hell is a place absent from God. Deuteronomy 32:17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. 19 And when the LORD saw it , he abhorred them , because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be : for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. 24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. Laurë Veteran Posted January 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2006 I'm not, because, yes, i don't believe in the concept of hell, it makes no sense whatsoever to me. the energy in my body will be returned to the earth once i have been buried. completing the never ending cycle. You can't complete it if it is never ending...only complete your own role in it? As emo as it is, at this moment I feel as though I am already there. As an agnostic I am not afraid of going to some "hell" in which I will burn for eternity. Why be afraid of something that has no evidence to prove it exists? Typically human... gigapixels Veteran Posted January 21, 2006 Veteran Share Posted January 21, 2006 You need to show some respect and keep that crap to yourself. You're just as bad with what you said. You called his opinion crap. Talk about contradiction. He disagreed with an opinion. Big deal. I would say the same thing except I'm not the type that likes confrontation much. He didn't call the person stupid for that opinion, he simply stated (in different words, of course) that he does not agree with said opinion. There is nothing wrong with that. _sphinx_
I don't think you guys got what I was trying to say in the polls. Its either you are afraid of going to hell, or you're not because you don't really care beccause, to you, life is more important to enjoy (by doing whatever you want to do [legal or otherwise]) then go to hell later. Enjoy life...that's not an option.

shihchiun
I don't believe in any kind of afterlife. Besides, if there was such a thing as hell, we'd all be in it. Every religion says that if you're not part of it, you go to hell. You can only have one religion, so therefore everybody is going to hell. Yes, I know it's from that chemistry test joke thing.
