ServerMechanic
Before version 1.5 of Firefox when you went to a site (like this forum) and put your username and password it you would be asked if you wanted to save the password. The options were something like [Remember] [Never for this site] [Not now]. It always defaulted to [Remember] if you just hit enter. Now it defaults to [Not now] with version 1.5. I realize this is probably better for security but for my own home PC where it's just my wife and I we don't care. Anyone know how to change this? Is it somewhere in about:config ? Thanks! :)
takkun
second that request. Also whenever i try to download a .wmv file FF keeps asking me what to do with the file even tho my default action is save to disk, funny thing is that it also happens in opera, and only happens with .wmv files >:( Edited January 25, 2006 by Akumal
ServerMechanic
I never thought this was such a hard one to find. This stinks. :)

ServerMechanic
I was just thinking about this today because I'm getting tired of having to click "Remember" or use the arrow keys to highlight "Remember" and then hit Enter. There should be something that I can tick "Always remember passwords". On my home computer I don't need to always tell it yes. Anyone? :)
Salgoth
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:...:config_Entries You're looking for the first and last ones. Just type about:config into your address bar.

xpgeek
That didn't really help him at all. Just showed him the about:config entrys to turn it on, which is not what he asked at all.

Absolutely brilliant! Your sole contribution to the thread is to slam someone else for trying to help while at the same time not offering anything constructive! Brilliant! ServerMechanic: Got to signons2.txt in your profile folder and locate the entry for the site you need reset. Delete the entries for that site and restart Firefox. When you go to the site you will again be prompted as to what to do with passwords for that site.
Gran8aOCer
I just wish Firefox would actually remember the passwords. My Firefox 2.0.0.6 has a tendency to develop Alzheimer's every once in a while and loses several passwords at a time. I finally found this password exporter add-on that helps out by letting me export my passwords and import them when Firefox has a memory problem. primexx
I don't think its possible to default to remember since it's a security problem.

With it, you have much control of what should happen to downloads. Whether they should be transferred to a download manager or be saved automatically. And no, it doesn't require that you have FlashGet installed.

On my home computer I don't need to always tell it yes. Anyone? :) I don't know of any way to make it the default selection, but I usually just hit the "R" key for the remember option; then I don't have to use the arrows or enter. ServerMechanic
Thanks again everyone. That's a good idea PamelaJ. I never thought of just hitting R. I'm gonna have to do that from now on. I do appreciate it. ;)
