A few weeks ago, i was promoted, and 2 weeks ago, i was made full time. So i was asked to pick today, what job i want.. the new one, or the old one? Keep in mind, BOTH jobs, are the same boss.

The Machinist Job:

Currently im working on a big machine, it's an OK job, i don't mind doing it.. it's kind of something new, and the co-workers are fun to talk to, and make jokes with all day.. but things recently changed, and we are being told not to talk.. which is making the job kinda boring. Around 3-4 months ago, we got a "new boss", and he's kind of a noob. But he promoted me, and gave me more money.. which i thought i would make more.. but thats not the problem.

The job entitles me to take chrome, steal, stainless, carbon rods, and use a Mazak. It's a big, expensive machine, and requires you to know Mazak Programming.. it has it's own language.. very easy to learn.

The Computer Job:

I was asked to work closer to my new Production Manager, writing up Memo's and spread sheets (using microsoft office) I know how to do that, and love working with computers. Only problem is, the guys a bit of a noob..

I want to work with computers in the future.. and working as someones personal assistant looks good on a resume. I plan on going back to school too.

So im stuck here guys.. Should i take the computer job, or stick to what im doing? i was put on the spot today, and said i'll make my decision soon.. Thanks for reading.

Do you want to become a programmer (maybe the machinist job will be better) or something else in the industry...the other job might be best. If you are going back to school, you will need all the money you can get, so if one pays better than the other.....

I'm in an admin job at the moment, and it is boooring. Writing up memos and spreadsheets all day will not be very exciting!

i told everyone i wanna go back to school.. and they seem disapointed. but i don't care, it's a dead end job. and i mentioned i want the computer job, and my supervisors got mad :s

I wanna go to college in september, both jobs pay the same.. and working on a computer all day isn't boring to me :p

i think i want the computer job a little more then staying a machinist.

Oh I can sit at computers 24/7, it's just that I have to do boring cack at work. It grinds my brain, but I'm going to uni myself in September so it's not for long.

I say go for the computing job if you want it a bit more. It's probably worth doing just for the extra comfort. I used to work in a shop standing up all day so I LOVE being able to sit on my ass now :D !
