There's more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on this planet.

and if only 1% of all those stars have planetary systems

and only 1% of those planetary systems are in position to be able to sustain life.

and only 1% of those again have the stuff required for life, like Water or whatever that planets life needs.

there's still many many many billions of planets out there capable of life. it'd be ignorant to think that this would happen on only this "one" planet of all those possibilities.

it'd be like saying, that you throw a dice, and get a 6, and you'll never get a 6 again because you allreadyhave it. no matter how many times yo throw the dice.

^ ergo cogito sum - i think therefore i am

if the baby has the ability to think, then it has the ability to recognise itself and thus realise that it is conscious and alive

I doubt anyone who knows me would seriously classify me as uneducated or naive. Most people who say yes are lead to believe there is life out there and life is really that simple to create. The fact that I think the way I do about life on other planets shows that I think differently and not simply sitting on the fence.

you completly missed the the point on the baby reference

I think there is likely to be life out there. To think that only this one special "chosen" planet has life is egotistical.

I do not see that there is much chance of us coming into contact with it though unless we (or they) develop the technology to travel huge distances through space. Imagine two ant's nests on opposite sides of the planet.

The people in charge here already know there is and I'm fairly confident that the rest of the world will know within 10-20 years or less. I don't know about actually seeing them here but who knows

Isn't there a moon or something around another planet thats covered completely in ice? Maybe there's under water life under that ice.

I thought I heard that on Discover Channel once.

Yea i think theres definatly life on other planets, and and theres a pretty big chance that theres intelligent life like us, unless of course were the first spawn of intelligent life.... we become the aliens going to visit them... how depressing would that be

I vote yes. Given the size of the universe and the fact that we already know of a planet that has life (Earth), the odds that there is other planet out there should be fairly high.

I think it was said best in the move "Contact" with Jodi Foster.....

Young Ellie: Dad, do you think there's people on other planets?

Ted Arroway: I don't know, Sparks. But I guess I'd say if it is just us... seems like an awful waste of space.

That's a good quote. Personally, I also believe there is life on other planets. The universe is so enormous that we don't even know how far it extends or how many other planets exist. And considering the numerous species and ecosystems within our own planet and the history of species that have come and gone (i.e. dinosaurs), it is only logical to assume that some form of life exists on another planet or in some distant galaxy.

I believe there definitely is. Whether or not we will ever truly know of their existence I am unsure of, but I voted they will come someday because I believe there's a better chance that they will than they won't.

there's almost a 100% chance that there's life on other planets. People don't realise just how insignificant we are in terms of the universe.

ok... statistically, it is impossible for there NOT to be life on other planets given the number of planets with similar qualities as earth and the size of the universe. and thats assuming the circumstances on those planets are identicial to earths and assuming life cannot exist on planets of any other circumstance.

whether we ever encounter any tho is highly doubtful.

WHY DO WE have the prime directive? To prevent interfering with the development of cultures. This would be logical; it would allow planets to develop their own civilizations and would encourage diversity, much like the human gene pool thrives in the same manner.

When our culture becomes sufficiently advanced to admit the existence of extra-terrestrial life, first contact will be made.

Do you still doubt the existence of extra-terrestrial life?

Have you ever done a google image search for crop circles :)
