Nero AntiVirus Built Into 5.5.9.6

Question

Righty then, there I was playing around with Nero settings and came across something unusual.

I don't know if it's part of 5.5.9.6, but this is when I noticed it. Below is a screenshot of it (second option down from the "Help" menu). Did anyone else know about this..? Has anyone got any info on this..? (of course I updated the virus definitions but had no idea it had it's own scanner).

P.S.

Any info would be nice :ninja:

it's using antivirus engine from Dr.Web

it's pretty good but really slow.

here's more info on it http://www.dials.ru/english/dsav_toolkit/drweb32.htm

it's made by same russian folks that released good old "aids-test" antivirus back in dos3-5 days :)

well, maybe not "4.6" but it's been there bloody long time

look here http://www.nero.com/en/content/c1002822723320.html

they say march 2001 nero 5.5 but it actualy they included it in at least 5.0 releases..maybe even earlier, don't remember exactly

yea, it's been there for a while, but i believe that it only gets installed when you buy nero straight from nero, not when you get it with your cd burner (bundled).

feel free to correct me on this if i'm wrong... but most times i never am wrong :D ;)

here's a little something that i found on the nero site talking about the features in Nero 5.5

i got this info from here>

http://www.nero.com/en/content/c1005899026300.html

scroll all the way down to the bottom and you'll see it :)

And more-including:

Virus Checker* scans the files of the compilation before burning to CD

*only available in the Nero Retail Package.

JasonC1986 actually I had a legit version of Nero 5 with my Abit motherboard, I kinda' have two legal version of Nero. I simply installed Nero 5.0, loaded up Nero to enter the serial number and then updated it directly with 5.5.9.6

So it looks like some have access to it and some don't...strange.

P.S.

Thanks for the link: http://www.nero.com/en/content/c1005899026...#c1005899026300 I'm checking it through now.

Thanks again.
