Sorry for internationals in the euro/litre area. I think it would be interesting to see what people consider as a fair price.

I think a fair price is around $1.50, $2.00 max.

That would be 15 gal for $22.50 - $30.00 less tax.

i say 50 effin cents because oil companies are constantly raising their prices saying "we need to increase price due to increase in demand blahblablah" yet they keep having record profits each consecutive quarter.

1.25 - 175

Correct me if I?m wrong, but the stuff we?re pumping into our cars today was probably purchased elsewhere (Venezuela, Canada, domestic or from the Middle East) probably a month before. So if the price goes up, they?ll pass it along right away (to ease us into it?) but if it goes down, how long does it take for us to feel it?

But the thing that really confuses me is this quote from a CNN article:

"Our demand for gasoline is always highest for June, July and August?

The average American, as near as I can figure is 16 miles each way. That?s 32 miles a day ... 160 miles a week. If it?s a two parent household, they?re racking up 320 miles a week. Now, where are these people going on these car-based vacations? Is that really a jump in gas consumption? Or is this just a line the petroleum industry has been feeding us? Is it that the vehicles we drive for vacation are just less efficient. I?m talking about those Winnebagos and cars with trailers. And while we?re at it, what about those non-car vehicles like boats, jet-skis and hell, lawnmowers. This article from last week says this: Americans burn 11.959 billions of gallons of gas compared to 10.318 billion gallons burned on average per month. So if we have a consistent 14% jump in gasoline demand every August, why don?t the petroleum providers just plan better? Have you ever gone to the gas station in August and they had run out?

SCREW GAS, FIND SOMETHING ELSE SOON.

I'd say no higher than $1.75...but I'd much rather they'd find/develop a cheaper energy source, preferably one that can be retrofitted to older vehicles or better yet one that required no retrofitting, 100% ethanol for example.

I don't know where you're going with that, but my dad commutes 95 miles a DAY(to and from) work. That's almost 500 miles a week, just for work, not vacation... It's the same with a lot of people I know... I dunno what it's like where you live, but 100 a day is very common for SF bay area.

I took a new job in Dec and one factor in taking it was mileage. I went from 32/day round trip to 22/day round trip and the company is moving next july and that will put me at 12/day round trip. If it were not for the bad neighborhoods I have to go through I would ride my Mt. Bike but where I have to drive through I would not last long...

I also drive ~100 miles every day. It's not fun :(
