You are one lucky guy, lebmike. That is a sweet setup, both on the laptop and the desktop! Welcome to the Mac side of things, you should upgrade to Jaguar so you can use Quartz Extreme on that puppy! :bandit:

Anyone wanna elaborate a bit on Quartz Extreme? I was reading about it a bit on the Apple site, but I just skimmed thru it. Anyone willing to gimme a quick rundown on what it is/does, because the next system we get is gonna be a Mac. My wife has already commanded it be so. ;)

Basically, the whole desktop is now an OpenGL scene which is rendered by the graphics card (16mb and AGP2x minimum). It speeds up all the fanciness like transparencies, window resizing, etc etc.

For example you can now have desktop pictures rotate at set intervals and the transition is all nice and fancy and smooth. That be quartz extreme ;)

There isn't an upgrade. Not for you anyway.

just think about it. ;)

Well done, they don't run windows

And you can run OS X on a processor as low as 233 MHz.

Oh, and not to burst your bubble, but man hasn't landed on the moon ;)

Oh, and posts are going to stay on topic from now on, this isn't a Mac vs PC thread...

No, it's not a download. It's a major upgrade. Easily equivelent to Windows 2000 -> Windows XP (5.0 -> 5.1). It's $129 but you can get it cheaper with an edu discount if you are able to.
