gigapixels Veteran Posted February 6, 2006 Veteran Share Posted February 6, 2006 Well, I guess I don't see the advantage to Dell, Apple, or us if they chose to. Apple sells their product right on apple.com, why would I need to go through a middleman (Dell) when I can buy from the source? I don't think Apple would let Dell sell their product for cheaper, that wouldn't make much sense. I can't say it wouldn't happen but can anyone give a reason why it would? Well, Apple could still get profit no matter how their stuff is sold. Dell is known for having good deals, and if Macs are sold through a name that people trust as a good source for a good deal on a computer, there could be more traffic for Macs and thus more profit. Dell would take any losses through their rebates and savings stuff that they do, not Apple. This is not to say I think it will happen, because I do not. I believe Apple will be able to get out to the general public by themselves, and I don't think they would go through a middleman to sell to consumers. An Apple is an Apple, and that's how they want to keep it.

Garry
Jesus. Was it a slow day on the forums...? If Dell starts selling Apple's computers then I will march into European Sales Directors office and resign. (I work for Dell).

Eli
ripgut.....I thought I knew you better then that :( (joking) The only thing that changed inside of an Apple computer is the fact that it's Intel now. It would be like them changing their graphics card from ATI to nVIDIA (don't know which they have. If it's wrong, switch it around or something). All of a sudden because they switch to the other company does not mean that all of a sudden another computer maker will jump on them. I say No. They will not.
