NOD32 (basically free, because I uninstall and reinstall it every month, thus resetting it's 30 day trial (a new version of it usually comes around each month). As for paying, as long as there are free alternatives, I will never buy one. I'd rather download a free one.

I find the best for overall virus protection and the ability to not moniter the program at all is Norton Antivirus 2005. The 2006 has some nice new features but is extremely bloated ( not unlike previous versions). The boot times increases by 10-20 seconds for me. The absolute worst is F-Secure though. My girlfriend has it because her dad thinks its the best (only) one and it slows her computer to a crawl. Currently I enjoy no antivirus and the speeds associated with it. I better soon install something to protect me. :(

umm no antivirus is not a risk if you have any idea how to use a computer. I've never used antivirus and never had a virus. And now you're going to say how do i know.. well I will install it once every 6 months and do a check and i've been clean my whole life. Stop opening stupid **** and browsing to porn sites using IE.

I used to have norton systemworks 2003 running for ages and it did alright.

i did take out most of the realtime stuff cause it just killed startup and load times of somethings.

i'm actually using windows onecare for virus and its just been announced they are to bundle spyware stuff with it aswell and i havent gotten any viruses on this and its even a little quicker then the norton without realtime crap running the whole time.

not sure what im going to do when it starts to cost me though...

I use NOD32 for antivirus.

I run only one proggy at a time, though if ever i install a firewall it will be 2.

And i'd recommend BOTH free and brought antispyware products....whichever does the job better.

Panda 2006 (I got for free  oh, legal licence too)

1 at a time - two will screw you up.

I recommend it, especially since it's 1: Better at finding stuff then NaV, AVG, NOD32, McAfee etc 2: has anti-phishing, anti-spyware, firewall, protection against unknown virus, and right now, Canadians can get it for $35.95 (after $20 MIR)

i used to be a kaspersky kinda guy but tried nod32 and it found **** kaspersky didnt. so i'd say nod32 is the best. and you are not sposed to run more then 1 anti virus at a time or else the **** up
