I'm having problems with MSN Messenger v5.0.0124, for the last two days (approx) I haven't been able to connect.

I get the standard "We were unable to sign you in to .NET Messenger Service, possibly because of the service or with your Internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet"

I have tried Windows Messenger v4.7.0040 and that works every time perfectly.

I'm running Windows XP with SP1 beta v1097

I've even tried reinstalling MSN Messenger v5.0.0124 after installing SP1 v1097 and I still get the same issues.

I understand the problem started happening after "Maintenance" was carried out on the servers a short while ago.

Has anyone "in the know" taken a look at this yet to see if the problem can be patched the same way as the initial betas of MSN Messenger 5?

Thanks for yoru help and ideas

Sweevo

last days there was maintenance to the system, that was the reason 5.0 couldn't connect, now everything should work fine again...

(server maintenance for 5.0 isn't notified in the .NET serverstatus page)

Starting mid-last week, Microsoft disabled the server-side protocol and isn't allowing any sign-ins. No information is know as to whether this is a maintenance issue, or if this was an attempt to block out all the users who got the leaked software. But as of now only the hard-coded users are allowed to sign-in and no one else.
