dont like much when peeps say this is just a place to live. i lost quite a few friends in Iraq to IEDs and sniper fire. not sure what i want said. but there has to be something between patriotic and *just a place to live*. no one forces you to stay here. i am proud of america. yes, some decisions some higher ups make are not great. sorry, didnt meant to start up or add to flamin' here. sleep well.

I picked "other" as although I like australia, I'm not sure that I'm very patriotic towards it. I figure I'm somewhere in between "very patriotic" and "I just live here". Hmm... on second thought, I probably should have picked the first.

I am a proud American. I do believe that my country has had it's faults, and continues to have them. But what country it without it's faults?

erm.. below.

I'm pretty proud of Canada. We have healthcare, relitivly low poverty, and as a nation we accept all races and creeds, even though there are many people who personally won't.

Canada is often known as peace keepers, were not armed to the teeth going to war. Canada bought used subs from england, and when they caught fire or started sinking most of the country just laughed at ourselves. If it was the US, they would be producing their own war vessels like no tomorrow.

I am extremely proud and happy to live in the United States of America. I feel that President George W. Bush has done a good job considering the circumstances he has had to face. Keep it up, GWB and go America! May we continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh great, how American of you. If you don't like the president, leave. Just remember that the next time we have a president you don't like, okay?

So your ashamed of your country for the actions of someone else? Remember we live in a republic (which ill admit needs a lot of reform) so your not making the decision your representative is. So dont feel ashamed of your country rather your rep.

I'm proud. We're the number one pirates in the world.

Plus, medicare, and anti-war issues are pretty good. We don't spend money on military so we spend it on other things like free health care. And if Canada ever gets into a fight with another country, USA is there for us.

I just hate the taxes though. It's 15% but I guess it's worth it when we have free medicare.

Canada rules. :)

He means the Eurupean Union, someone doesn't read for context. I will always be faithful to Rossiya, even if the Bolsheviks are running the country.

yes, the UK is in the european union, we are european, some people are so misinformed its scary

im pro european union but im the only person that is in the WHOLE of the uk. most other people in the uk are xenophobic, they think that foreigners are going to come over from mainland europe and kill them  they are such idiots, thats why im ashamed of the uk not because of the country, its laws and prime minister (in fact we come 15th on the Human developement index which isnt bad) its the people im ashamed of, when i say im from the uk people get a idea of what i must be like when in fact im the only person in my country who isnt.

well i get the feeling that a lot of people are patriotic, ive always have been and always will be scared of patriots and i dont really know why, i guess its cause you never know what they could do next with their unthinking love of their country.

it's not embarracing to be from the US. It's quite awesome. I don't know how you seem to think that we're intolerant. We're probably the most tolerant country on the whole planet. No one has to deal more with open social, political, sexual, racial diversity as us. No country on the planet can live more peacefully despite all the diversity as the US. Look at france, the so called culture center of the west. Their society is so intolerant that their racial protests last weeks. Also, you are COMPLETELY missing american culture if you stick to a city like newyork. New york is a cosmopolitan city, it's not a very accurate reading of the average american's culture. It's kinda like tokyo. If you think that tokyo resembles japanese culture as a whole you're just completely daft. Come to a small town to find real american culture. Just because we keep our own culture DOESN'T mean we're culturally vapid.

back on that michael moore and cindy sheehan thing. Michael moore doesn't hate america. Anyone who knows his story... he's the biggest capitalist on the planet to take advantage of the current political climate. Cindy Sheehan on the other hand hates america. She hates america so much that she has to travel all the way to Venezuela just to claim the the US is a terrorist nation. She can stay in venezuela. No one will care. The liberals, who loved her when she was having her protest in texas now ignore her. Why? Because in her blog she dismissed the suffering of the victems of hurricane katrina because she's a media ######; a press slut.

It's pretty embarrassing to be from the States these days. I mean, a lot of Americans are ignorant and intolerant. It seems our current government promotes that behavior. In fact, I never would want to live in the US unless it was a big city like NYC. The rest of the US seems culturally vapid.

I'm pretty proud of living in Sweden myself. :)

Not that I'm walking down the streets waving the flag, but it's a country I'm not sure I'd like to switch from.

Soo, I assume gay marriages is accepted by law everywhere in your country then, and there's no censorship and bleeping on TV? :) And that you're free to sunbathe topless anywhere on the country's beaches? The last huge thing about this was a nipple that got everyone there all nuts. Oh, and some speech on the Academy Awards that made channels start using slight delays to remove "inconvenient" speeches. I mean, come on. I guess it's all too often "peacefulness after inconveniences are removed", where "inconveniences" depend on the gov't in charge.

Seriously, I have nothing against USA, but it's these statements that make me believe they aren't really looking around modern civilized countries that have none of the issues I brought up above. You really need to get off your high horses, at least when you start talking about "no country on the planet" about diversities. I hope you don't believe USA is alone of accepting basically all cultures without hatred, as for most of the population. If that's the case, you have a very bleak image of the world. :(

marriages has got NOTHING to do with our acceptance of gays. Marriage is simply NOT the word to use. I'm actually surprised that we have marriage laws since marriage is religous thing but any who. In the US.. you can be as gay as you want to be.. There is no censorship and bleeping is mostly up to the station. Any who, who gives a hell if our TV stations like to keep their content mostly clean? Will hearing F-bombs left and right really make the content of the show you're watching better? Nope. It's kinda like the blood in mortal kombat. I was ****ed off about the blood being removed from the SNES version of MK. That is until i realized that the blood didn't actually make the game any more fun. In fact, the genesis version did have blood and it blew compared to the SNES version. Why? the content on the genesis version sucked. The graphics were worse and the controls blew.

And yes, I do believe that we have more freedom and equality here than the USA will ever have - a true democracy and a state that cares for those lesser fortunate than others, not purely dictated by personal greed and solely superficial values.

Ahh pride, one of the seven deadly sins. Pride leads to thoughts of superiority over anything else. We shouldn't have pride in our country for it leads us to believe that everywhere else is inferior in some way. Personally I'm very happy with Canada and I have no reason to relocate, although if it was necessary then I would. All countries should see everyone else as equal, otherwise we start to think that our country is better therefore leading to conflict and "terrorism".

i would like to stress

being a hyper liberal country such as sweden doesn't make your country either

A)less ignorance

B)less tolerance

you're trying to make this a liberal vs. conservative thing

just because the US is more reserved doesn't mean it's no a "modern society". Not to mention these hyperliberal societies has made these country weak. very weak. most of the citizens have been made so impotant that no one is willing to go to war for anything. Not even to protect themselves. This is dangerous. Why you might ask? Because not so tolerant countries, such as many islamic and asian countrys can over run you very easily. What then? All of those freedoms you had before like running around beaches naked and having openly gay couples will go bye bye.

The best part of the US is that there is a BALANCE of freedom and responsibility. This balance simply doesn't exist in your society. This balance is what makes countries such as Brittain and the US and even to some extent China so strong.

I'm not here to tell you that your society is wrong but I do think that you need to find a balance so that a strong Europe will be able to defend itself.
