Mac_Bug
Are you aware of the idiot ratio in this world? Examine that then combine it with your own statement - you'll see that it's not exactly a non-issue.

sunnyy4
Being a teen, I know this... please hear me out: I believe that video games do have a great impact on society, especially teens because they are immature and have desires to explore the world. For example, in GTA3, one can dream up of the most barbaric moves and execute them on screen. All of you might think that this is just on the screen, but some teens might execute it in real life. I quote the August 2002 "High Voltage" newsletter by Bob Smithouser with the following: The game is rated M (17 and up) for violence and sexual content. But this is one of those cases where "age appropriateness" isn't really the issue. I'm 37, and I shouldn't play GTA3 because, as a Christian, I'm accountable to a higher standard than an ESRB rating. Let me tell you why this game concerns me.First of all, you play a criminal who escapes custody and willingly teams up with organized crime. You proceed to steal, kill, and pimp for the mob. You blow up a passenger plane. You transport prostitutes. You assassinate people. Also, unlike games that are more linear, this one encourages you to dream up all sorts of illegal, often brutal moves and try them out -- just to see if you can. And usually, the game lets you. Running people over. Shooting a guy after stealing his ride. Employing a hooker, then beating her to death. This sick excuse for fun has no moral conscience. I can already see the letters pouring in: "Lighten up, Bob! It's just a game. It's an outlet. A fantasy. Nobody's going to imitate this stuff." That's probably true. But even if a player never copies any of these things in real life, games like GTA3 encourage us to make very real choices in a virtual world. That can subtly mess with our sense of ethics. in 2 Corinthians 10:5, we're told to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." How can we do that while -- with game pad in hand -- we ponder the most entertaing ways to break God's laws? I understand that this has some Christian bias to it, but I agree to this message, and I earnstly hope that you do also.

It is all Christian biased. They want your only form of entertainment to be to read the bible and to give praise to god. And will condemn anything which gets in the way. BTW, the most violent times in history have been when the Church was in control. Contrary to what you may think we live in one of the least violent times in history as well. The only reason why it may seem more violent is because of our news media. We are far more aware of the world around us with our instant communications than our ancestors could ever imagine.
