money is ment to be spent, not ment to be art. it's stupid when your government speeds extra money to make money.

You are right, but IMHO Euros look better than dollars right now.

You can quickly recognize the value of a banknote by looking at its colour: light-orange means 10 euros, gray/green means 5 euros, yellow is 200 euros, bright green is 100 euros, purple is 500 euros, light blue is 20 euros.

yea, it's rather blah. Most, if not all, other "industrialized" nations have multicolored money. : /

The new $10, $20, $50, and soon the $100, all have new color added.

If you were talking about paper money...

and you can quickly tell ours by who is on it, also the big 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 that is on them ...

Are you from America? Do you live here?

They teach you all about money in elementary school. :p

I wouldn't mind an update. Most Americans won't understand the point behind it though, since most Americans completely lack that whole international mindset, and can't comprehend the fact that we're a travel destination.

We're also a nation of parrots, apparently, because I think a bunch of years ago, some talking head responded to criticism of American paper money by laughingly referring to Monopoly bills. Now whenever the topic is brought up, opponents of the idea...laughingly refer to Monopoly bills.

Mmm...group think.

I'm only half-kidding. The only legitimate reason for changing money should be to make it harder to counterfeit. 'Because it's easier to tell them apart' is a poor argument with little foothold in reality. If someone confuses two different US bills, it's not because they couldn't tell them apart, it's because they didn't bother to look. Color isn't going to help that.

Well, as a non-american who visits your country from time to time, I can tell you thats crap. Canadian bills are significantly easier to tell apart at a glance. I confuse American bills all the time.

Dollars are always gonna be made out of crappy paper, because theres so much to produce.

Coins are cheaper to produce than paper currency. Nobody wants to walk around with a pocket full of dollar coins though.

Canadian bills are easier for you to tell apart because you're used to the colors. If we came up with a color system we'd have to decide on one, and then someone who had a different one would still be confused.

I like the new money (US bills) - I'm all for upgrades, but only if they are actually needed. I don't use cash that much anymore, so I don't see the point in a huge investment for it.

edit:removed useless comments - sorry for any offense.

I disagree, I think it is much easier to differentiate colour than it is to differentiate the face on the bill, especially with a quick glance, so it would be much easier to learn / get used to.

Instead of making it attractive, goverment/s should focus more on how to add more security features so that they are not duplicated.

In India this has been and is being implemented every year. Our government looses lots of money because counterfeit currency is being pushed from Pakistan to destabilize the economy.

So i say go more for security than looks.

i wouldn't mind if you tried to explain the point on having colorful money. and what is so special about the "international mindset"? I also failed to discern from your post whether or not you are american and who is the "travel destination". And tell me why our government should spend a couple cents more making money. Doing so would only de-value the dollar further.
