Get rid of it. Some other program you installed probably forced this one to be installed. If you don't know what it does, then you don't need it.

The Ad-Aware site should have a list of all the programs it detects. and what they do.

It doesn't sond like anything associated with XP so make a restore point and delete it. If something goes wrong just go back to the last restore point.

It is safe to delete the BDE software...

it is not a requirement of XP

it is however a requirement of Kazaa, (i think), Kazaa requires something to run, either Clint or BDE , i cant remember

Uninstall Kazaa, uninstall BDE (both should be found in the Add/Rem in Control Panel) and Switch to Kazaalite, no spyware, and much faster

BDE is evil, destroy it. kazaa needs CDclint.dll to work, but that is not part of BDE, anyway, get kazaa lite not kazaa as it is spyware free and the CDclint.dll that kazaa lite installs is a dummy version

Yes BDE is Evil !!!

Make sure you delete the BDE folder in C:windowsBDE (I think)

but delete all traces of Brilliant Digital Entertainment.

Kazaalite is not a trogan, but some of the files you can download from it can have trogans.

Always run a virus check on every file you download or better still don't use it.

Kazaa lite gives you pop ups too...they only appear in the taskbar though, they never actually "pop-up". It may close them after a certain amount of time also.

I've never used Kazaa, only Kazaalite, and I still get the little taskbar pops.

ohhhhh... now i understand... I use mozilla and zonealarm, and now i realise that those IE windows that want to connect to the net are from those pop-up's... but i don't allow IE to connect to the net... :ponder:

The pop-up was from a different thing. KaZaA Lite is working beautifully. And I have Norton Antivirus iwht autoprotect and Liveupdate enabled, so I guess my virus woes have been avoided.
