I've never had a girlfriend, I'm waiting for someone I love, probably after college.

When I was in kindergarden my best friend was a girl does that count? A girl asked me out my freshman year in high school so she could have been my girlfriend.

You should be more specific with the question like: When was the first time you had a serious bf/gf? Most people have at least 1 one week dating thing. For some I think its as little as a day.

Girlfriend means:

1. You kiss

2. You both have to like each other and have to openly admit so that the other person knows.

Well yeah, but I'm not good with this, so try your best!

Yep. Started early.

Well I would like to participate in this poll but I have no idea what these are

Middle School

High School - Freshman

High School - Sophomore

High School - Junior

High School - Senior

I'm assuming this is how schools in America are structured??

Are you aware that not everyone that uses this message board are located in the US??

For the people that live in Australia who would like to vote in this poll

When did you first have a b/f or g/f.

Primary School

Secondary School

University

Sometime after Secondary School

I had my first girlfriend just after Secondary School I was 17 by the way.

Dating life for me through school was messed up but I guess I could say my first Girlfriend was Sophomore year. My first serious relationship wasn't till after H.S. when I was 19.

Well, my first girlfriend that we'd actually schedule "dates," kiss etc was in 5th grade.

My first in-depth relationship, the first one where I really started seeing what love with someone outside your family is like....that was started in 7th grade. Lasted a year into 8th grade. This was the first time I was sexual with someone too....we'd have oral together.

As far as maturity and stuff goes, I'd say a good time for the average person to start dating is around late freshman / early sophmore year of highschool. Still young and naive, but having more skills and developments useful for maintaining a relationship over a long period of time.

After me and that girl brok eup towards the end of 8th grade, I spent some time trying to replace her basically. Ended up hooking up with some slut a few cities away and she gave me a ###### on our first date then tried to get me to do her. I refused, knowing that my refusal was the right path. From that moment on I questioned myself and saw how little I care about sex in the grand scheme of things. For one, it didn't feel right with someone I didn't know or have feelings for like that to me. Two, it can't compare, IMO, to the feeling of mutual love with a person.

I had some girlfriends my freshmen year, maybe 2 serious overall and little flings here and there. Then sophmore - senior year I had a couple serious ones. Nikita lasted for a long time, then right after her me and Deanna spent a wonderful few months together. Afterwards, was with my first girlfriend Kimmie for a while, before dating the girl I proposed to, Mindy.

I still love them all deeply and thoughts of them drift to my mind daily. I still feel deeply for them, though I wish to go back out with none of them. They just are, and will remain, incredibly special people to me....always beautiful in my eyes.

Then again, most people I see around my age (18 - 22) often can't handle a relationship, so there really is no general specific age to begin IMO. Some people seem to handle it better than others.

IMO the key components of a good relationship are Honesty, Selflishness and Tenderness.

Your last line contradicts what you said earlier :p

Oh, and how is selfishness a key?
