I was recently in CompUSA and saw Quake III Arena on one Mac and Return To Castle Wolfenstein on another. During gameplay both were displaying current FPS, I am wondering how this was done and how to do this for the PC versions? Does it involve running some benchmarking software in the background? I've never really done any benchmarks before and after seeing the Macs displaying FPS I became interested in how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
